Tiu Teja Waterfall- The Best Hidden Waterfall in Lombok
Tiu Teja Waterfall is one of the best waterfalls in Lombok. It is so underrated and this made it pretty difficult for us to find. But fear not, I have created this guide so you can explore the best-hidden waterfall in Lombok and have it all to yourself!
HOW TO GET TO TIU TEJA WATERFALL- LOMBOK
Now, this was the tricky part for us, in the morning we had visited TIU KELEP and SEDANG GILE WATERFALL, before attempting to find Tiu Teja Waterfall. WE FAILED. Ha! There are two points on google maps to Tiu Teja Waterfall. They are about an hour apart and one brings you to the entrance of the falls, and the other does not. You will see on the map below there is Tiu Teja Waterfall as well as Tiu Sekeper Waterfall.
If you wish to go to Tiu Teja Waterfall, you don’t need a guide, but be sure to go to “parkiran air terjun Tiu Teja” or you will end up at the wrong spot. I have attached a map below with the exact location.
If you’re still not finding it, you can ask some locals in the area for Rainbow Waterfall as Teja means rainbow. You will need to drive down a pretty bumpy road for around 1km and you will find the entrance to the falls.
Make sure to get directions to this exact point on the map.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT TIU TEJA WATERFALL
Once you arrive at Tiu Teja Waterfall you will need to pay an entrance fee of 50,000 Rupiah per person. Yeah, it’s freaking steep and more than Tiu Kelep, I am not sure why but that’s just how it is. We were with a local guide from our hotel and she managed to get it for 50,000 Rupiah for both of us. We saw the tickets, it is the official price.
By the way, our guide was only 100,000 Rupiah per day and she was awesome! We wouldn’t have found Tiu Teja Waterfall without her. But now that you have this guide, you don’t need to hire one. You’re welcome.
The hike down is absolutely stunning and is pretty mellow, it can be a bit slippery but I wouldn’t say runners are necessary. If I can go barefoot, I always prefer that.
Tiu Teja Waterfall in Lombok is not well known at all, so chances are you are going to have this place totally to yourself. We didn’t see another person coming or going the entire time, and we were there for around two hours.
WHERE TO STAY IN LOMBOK
Lombok is quite large so what you’re planning on doing while visiting, will determine where you stay. If you plan on visiting waterfalls in the north and hiking Mt. Rinjani, you can stay either up north or in Senggigi at HOLIDAY RESORT LOMBOK, like we did.
If you’re more looking for relaxing, and stunning beaches, I recommend staying in Kuta. Thomas and I stayed at KUTA BARU HOTEL and it was so lovely!
I hope you enjoyed this post about Tiu Teja Waterfall in Lombok! If you did, remember sharing is caring!
