6 Epic Things To Do on Nusa Penida- Bali
Nusa Penida is an island paradise just off the coast of Bali and with so many epic things to do, you will want to give yourself some time to explore. I arrived with a group of ten and we spent three days exploring the island and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
HOW TO GET TO NUSA PENIDA
First things first, you have to get to Nusa Penida. The best way to arrive in Nusa Penida is by ferry from mainland Bali. You can book a ticket from basically any tourist desk on the street and they can arrange everything for you. I would avoid booking from your accommodation as it is usually more expensive.
The ferry ride will cost around $35 USD including pick up and drop off at your hotel in an air-conditioned van. There are several ferries per day however, I recommend the morning as it tends to be an all-day affair. Once you arrive at the harbor in Sanur, you will need to check in with the company you booked with and they will take your luggage down to the beach.
Once on the ferry, it is about a 45-minute ride to Nusa Lembongan. Yes, you read that right, you will first take a ferry to Nusa Lembongan and then another to Nusa Penida. Now I recommend hanging out on Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan for a few days as there are so many fun things to do! For my favorite things to do on the islands, click HERE for Ceningan, and HERE for Lembongan.
Once on Lembongan, you can arrange your transfer to Nusa Penida. We booked it from a very lovely gentleman on the side of the road for around $7 USD there and back, and again that included transfer from our hotel.
I have attached a map of the 6 epic things to do and their locations!
WHERE TO STAY ON NUSA PENIDA- BALI
The island of Nusa Penida is quite large compared to Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan and the epic things to do are pretty much spread out. We stayed at Cemara Beach Homestay and this seemed to be a pretty good base. For around $30 USD you can grab a deluxe double room or two twins if you are traveling with friends! Click HERE to book.
6 EPIC THINGS TO DO ON NUSA PENIDA- BALI
Now that you have finally arrived on Nusa Penida, it is time to rent a motorbike and start exploring! The roads are bumpy but that makes for fewer people at all of the epic spots! This list is in no particular order as all of these spots are epic and it’s impossible to choose a favorite. Heads up, all the images were taken using my Travel Photography Essentials, check out my full list HERE!
1. ATUH BEACH FOR SUNRISE
Atuh Beach, also known as Pantai Atuh, is an absolutely stunning beach with an insane arch in the middle of the ocean, making for the most epic sunrise spot. It is one of the best things to do on Nusa Penida! There is also a restaurant on the beach if you’re keen for a coconut or nasi goreng, pretty good lunch spot if you ask me. You can read more about Atuh Beach HERE.
2. BROKEN BEACH ON NUSA PENIDA
Nusa Penida has so many epic things to do but Broken Beach has got to be one of my favorites. With clear blue waters and a stunning archway, this place is picture perfect. Bring a towel and throw it down under the shade and you can have the loveliest picnic with a view! For more information about Broken Beach click HERE.
3. ANGEL’S BILLABONG
Just around the corner, literally, you just walk around the corner, from Broken Beach you will find Angel’s Billabong. Angel’s Billabong is a little tide pool paradise that can be a nice place for a dip on Nusa Penidas blazing hot days. This place is absolutely stunning but can also be absolutely dangerous if you don’t go at the right time of day. Read more HERE, for the best time of day to visit.
4. KELINGKING SECRET POINT BEACH
It would not be a complete list of things to do on Nusa Penida if I left out this stunning dinosaur viewpoint so here it is! Kelingking Secret Point Beach is absolutely stunning and a definite must see if you are visiting the Nusa Islands. With its green grass and milky blue waters, I can understand why this place is blowing up on Instagram, and of course, because it looks like a t-rex.
This is by far my favorite spot on the island for sunset. Check out my photos of this epic spot at sunset HERE.
5. PEGUYANGAN WATERFALL HIKE
Penguyangan Waterfall hike is a stunning set of blue stairs running down the cliff side on Nusa Penida. However, don’t get your hopes too high on the whole waterfall bit as there was just a small one on the cliffs, but still super cool and very refreshing!
There is parking at the top of the hike where you can park your motorbike for 5,000 Rupiah. We were also told we needed to hire sarongs for 10,000 Rupiah although I am not sure why as nobody was wearing them and there were locals showering in their underwear at the bottom.
We even managed to grab a water and a mie goreng before our hike for just 15,000 Rupiah.
6. BANAH CLIFF ON NUSA PENIDA
Visiting Banah Cliffs is such an underrated thing to do while visiting Nusa Penida. It offers stunning views of the coastline in every direction. There were no other tourists other than my friends and no charge for parking. That is when you know it isn’t busy yet, Yew free parking.
My friends and I wandered around taking photo after photo and taking in the views. The water is blue as ever and we even saw a turtle pop it’s head out! After spending too much time in the boiling sun, we got some local ice treat called doger for 2,000 Rupiah and it was so delicious I can’t even explain! Most of us got several.
I hope you enjoyed reading this article and even more I hope you enjoy your time on the Nusa Islands! Remember sharing is caring!
